Moore Tax Law Group announced the addition of former U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) attorney Lauren A. Darwit to its team of attorneys this week, expanding the boutique tax law firm’s bench of elite litigators. Darwit’s last position was as a Trial Attorney at DOJ’s Tax Division in Washington, DC.
“We pride ourselves on providing clients with a thoughtful and strategic approach to their unique needs,” said Managing Member Guinevere Moore. “Lauren brings a wealth of expertise in high-stakes tax disputes, having represented the United States in many significant cases, such as promoter penalty disputes.”
While at DOJ, Darwit tried tax cases in district courts nationwide involving complex tax shelter promoter penalties and injunctions, return preparer injunctions, summons enforcement, tax refunds, FBAR penalties, and various other issues. Prior to DOJ, Darwit advised businesses on tax planning and compliance matters at a Big Four accounting firm.
“The private tax litigation bar is a tight-knit community, and I know from my experience on the other side of the ‘v.’ that Guinevere is one of the best,” Darwit said. “I am thrilled to be joining this fast-growing firm of talented attorneys, and I look forward to adding to the firm’s incredible record of client success.”
