Lauren Darwit

Biography

Lauren represents individuals and businesses in administrative tax disputes and tax litigation.

Lauren has more than eight years of experience as a tax lawyer. Before joining Moore Tax Law Group, Lauren was a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division in Washington, DC. While at the DOJ, Lauren litigated tax cases in district courts nationwide involving complex tax shelter promoter penalties and injunctions, return preparer injunctions, summons enforcement, tax refunds, FBAR penalties, and a variety of other issues. Lauren has significant experience with high-stakes tax disputes, having represented the United States in many cases involving issues of first impression. Lauren received multiple awards while at the DOJ, including the Attorney General’s Award for Fraud Prevention and Special Commendation Awards from the Tax Division.

Before she worked at the DOJ, Lauren advised businesses on tax planning and compliance matters at a Big Four accounting firm. Lauren is passionate about pro bono work and has successfully defended low-income tenants against eviction suits.
